In response to the evolving demographic landscape of New Mexico and the recognition of a donor base that does not adequately represent our greater community, the ACLU-NM has created the Black Donor Network (BDN).

Black philanthropy has made organizing civil rights possible. It has sustained our churches, nurtured our families and our neighbors’ families, preserved our culture, and built our communities. The Black Donor Network is a collective of Black Donors in New Mexico who will work to advance the mission of ACLU-NM and its allied organizations.

This is a safe and empowering space for Black-identifying individuals to discuss philanthropy and social justice issues specific to New Mexico’s Black community as part of the overall movement for racial justice. Black philanthropy IS philanthropy!

Black Donor Network Launch Party

Together, we hope to:

  • Develop and grow a Black Donor Network to include a diverse range of Black-identifying individuals, organizations, and businesses in New Mexico who support the mission of ACLU-NM and our allied organizations.

  • Create a safe and inclusive environment for open dialogue, collaboration, and the exchange of ideas within the Black philanthropic community.
  • Provide support to BDN members in advancing ACLU-NM’s philanthropic goals by facilitating connections and resources that bring awareness to the historical contributions of Black communities in New Mexico and by discussing ongoing systemic challenges.
  • Cultivate a transformational relationship and a joint gift to the ACLU of New Mexico, with individual gifts to allied organizations working in the spaces members are passionate about.
  • Use this model to eventually create other BIPOC Donor Networks.
