Advocates Urge Legislators to Schedule and Pass HB 9 and SB 250

SANTA FE, NM – A coalition of immigrants’ rights advocates will host a press conference Monday at 10:00 am inside the Roundhouse in Santa Fe in response to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) enforcement actions last week and to announce the submission of a formal complaint with the Department of Homeland Security's Office for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties. The complaint addresses the disappearance of 48 New Mexico residents apprehended by ICE in Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and Roswell. Speakers will also urge legislators to pass HB 9 (Immigrant Safety Act) and SB 250 (No State & Local Resources for Immigration Enforcement Act) before the legislative session ends to ensure state and local governments do not aid similar efforts in the future.
